Barbarie or Nopal oil comes from the first cold pressure of prickly pear seeds. Almost a ton of fruit is needed to obtain 1L of pear oil. Very valuable and not to be confused with effleurage of the flower, with lesser properties. Prickly pears contain 52% pulp and only a 12% of seeds.
Extraction is very difficult
It is the seed of the fruit the one having the oily content, a 4%, thus nutritive values. Only for cosmetic use, Nopal oil is rich in Omega 3 and Vitamin E.
